Tips to improve accessibility

Here are some ways you can make your business more inclusive:

  • Review your physical space: Ensure entrances, pathways, and facilities are accessible for people with mobility needs.
  • Consider digital accessibility: Check your website and online services meet accessibility standards, such as providing alt text for images and easy-to-read content. This can help people who use screen readers.
  • Provide flexible work options: Remote work, adjustable hours, and assistive technology can help employees with disability thrive.

Support and resources for businesses

There are programs and services available to help you make your business more inclusive by employing and accommodating for people with disability.

JobAccess

JobAccess is a national hub that provides businesses with access to free information about supporting and employing people with a disability. 

Through the web and phone services, employers can access information on reasonable adjustments, financial support that may be available, case studies, and more.

Employment Assistance Fund

The Employment Assistant Fund provides workers with a disability with funding for workplace modifications, equipment or services they need to perform their job.

It is available to people with disability who are about to start a job or who are currently working, as well as people who need help to find and prepare for a job. It is also available to people with disability who are self-employed, and jobseekers who need Auslan assistance, or special work equipment to look for and prepare for a job.

Wage Subsidy Scheme

The Wage Subsidy Scheme provides funding for employers who hire job seekers registered with a Disability Employment Service provider. It aims to help people with disability gain skills and experience through employment.
