The Australian Government is exploring ways to boost domestic capability in wind generation and transmission infrastructure and provide flow on benefits to the Australian economy and community.

All businesses involved in the supply chain are encouraged to make a submission. This will help us gain a detailed understanding of Australia’s current and potential manufacturing capability and capacity, and the challenges and gaps.

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking input on:

  • suggestions for making local manufacturing more competitive, viable and resilient
  • insights on market conditions and policy settings that encourage long-term investment
  • recommendations for strengthening local supply chains and building capability
  • views on the type and level of government support that are needed in the short to medium term
  • ideas for building economic resilience across the wind and transmission tower manufacturing industry.

Your feedback will help ensure that government support is targeted, effective, and responsive to the needs of the entire supply chain.

Consultation closes 6 March 2026.
