Engentus are fastening the future of mining

In 2014, Brian Bradshaw, the founder of Engentus, was exploring a better way to release nuts on heavy machinery and equipment. He came up with a product called the Segnut and created the Engentus company.

The Segnut paved the way for other solutions, including the TopTorque system, which removes reaction forces to help fasten nuts.

Since then, Engentus have built up a team of engineers and specialists who solve fastening problems for industry. The latest idea is JEMTEC. It is created for use in mineral grinding mills in the global mining and resources industry.

To meet the increasing demand for batteries, more mines are digging for minerals like lithium, copper, gold and nickel. These mines use a grinding mill, a huge drum that is up to 12 meters in diameter. Simply put, big rocks go in one end of the mill. Small rocks come out the other.

The metal liners inside the mills get replaced every 6 to 18 months. This process can take up to 5 days. JEMTEC helps reduce the time taken to mount the liners by up to 80%.

It also maintains tension and reduces liner bolt failures, which means increased production. Every hour of lost mill production can cost up to $300,000. This highlights the value of this new product for industry.

Support from the Industry Growth Program includes a $887,000 grant. This will help Engentus complete testing and industry trials of JEMTEC.

Engentus will also look to secure its first customers, and form partnerships with global manufacturers of mill liners and related parts.
