About the program
The Australian Heritage Grants Program provides funding to help protect and promote the National Heritage Values of places on the National Heritage List. These places are recognised for their outstanding natural, historic, or Indigenous heritage value under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
The program aims to maintain, protect, conserve, and improve access to the National Heritage Values for which each place is listed, and enhance public engagement and awareness of those values.
It will achieve this by supporting grantees in their efforts to protect the natural, historic, and Indigenous heritage of Australia. Funding is provided to strengthen the recognition, management, conservation, and public engagement of these significant places.
The expected outcomes of the program are:
- improved recognition, conservation and preservation of the National Heritage Values for which places are listed
- enriched appreciation of National Heritage List places through improved community engagement.
This round of the program covers the 2025-26 to 2027-28 financial years. Projects can run for up to three years.
